Overlay scrollbars on Chrome based browsers
· 1 min · #web
I've recently installed Brave Browser on my computer and tried using it for a couple of days. I quit after 5 minutes, and switched back to Firefox. I won't comment on the experience nor give opinions on Brave, it wouldn't be fair, but I must address one big turn-off that all Chrome-based browsers share: the scrollbar.
You have no idea how much I despise Chrome's scrollbar, and how lucky I feel to be using Firefox!
You might call me mad, or think I'm way to invested in this, but you can't tell me I'm wrong. Chrome's scrollbar:
- is ugly
- has no dark theme
- causes content shift
Come on... it has no qualities.
Thankfully, there's a cure for this senseless design: overlay scrollbars.
They're slim, modern and adaptable; most importantly, they do not move your content left to right every time
you switch to a new page.
If you use a Chrome based browser, do yourself a favour and enable this feature. Just paste this URL in the address bar and toggle the option:
chrome://flags/#overlay-scrollbars
No need to thank me.
